The smell of bacon woke me up. Or it greeted me as I woke from a dreamless sleep. Either way, the air was filled with the scent of the best breakfast meat ever, and I yawned as I sat up, stretching and running my fingers through my hair. My eyes were slow to open, and from my bed on the far end of the studio apartment, I saw Lake near the stove, cooking.

I still lived in the same old rinky-dink apartment next to Lake, even though Roman had told me I should move in with him a while back. A part of me had wanted to, and that same part of me still wanted to, but another part of me liked having some independence.

Plus, this way I could be close to Lake—I didn’t think he would ever be willing to move into Roman’s house with me. He could share me, sometimes participate in a threesome or two with Carter and me, but that was it. Lake was not the biggest fan of Roman or Carter, for obvious reasons.

He was… so freaking normal, and I loved him for it.

I silently lay back down on my pillow, rolling to my side to stare at Lake near the stove. His blond hair was kind of a mess, a bit too shaggy. He needed a haircut, but I wouldn’t tell him that, because I loved running my fingers through that hair when we were together. Gave me something to pull on when I kissed his neck the way he liked.

“You know,” Lake started, not tearing his eyes off the pan in front of him, “I heard you yawn. I know you’re up. You’re not as quiet as you think you are.” At that, he tossed a glimpse over to me, his lips curled into a dimpled smile. His blue eyes twinkled with mirth, and I gave up my ruse of still being asleep.

I’d given him a key to my place a while ago, so he liked to pop in on the days he didn’t have work or any classes. Since I worked at a strip club, I tended to have a whacky sleeping schedule, but we made it work. We made it work, and I couldn’t be happier.

I loved him. I loved him so much.

I sat up, swinging my legs off the bed and stretching again, another yawn bubbling its way up my throat. Yeah, I could see what he meant. My yawns weren’t exactly stealthy. My legs were clad in booty shorts, a thin tank top on my chest, nothing else. No bra, no panties. I liked to feel the fabric on my nipples, the coolness between my legs. Plus, it made the men in my life go crazy when they were with me.

I moved to stand behind him, hugging him around his midsection and leaning my face against his back. “I love the smell of bacon in the morning,” I mumbled against his shirt.

Lake quipped back, “Oh, I know. It’s why I thought I’d surprise you with some—although it isn’t really morning anymore.
